Bio

Isaac Waweru Wambugu is currently a Software Engineering researcher at IBM Research Africa working on developing impactful applications based on research in the Inclusive Financial Services Group.

His main expertise in the software development is mobile systems, data management and system security. He is constantly familiarizing himself with new technology such as spark and blockchain as they emerge. In research, he is passionate about financial inclusion research especially in the field of investments, credit management as well as systems' user experience in the developing markets.

Previously, Isaac was a software developer at the Computing for development (C4D) Lab at the University of Nairobi where he worked under Prof. Wagacha Peter Waiganjo in developing systems to curb road carnage in developing markets. He also spent his undergraduate life understanding and developing start-ups at the iHub, a Kenyan-based innovation hub, where he learnt various skills in developing sustainable business models.

He has acquired a masters degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) with a focus in Machine Learning Specialization. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi.
