Thin EuYb2Fe5O12 magnetic garnet films are grown by isothermal dipping with axial rotation, the undercooling and the amount of garnet in solution being varied. With increasing undercooling the growth rate first rises linearly and then reaches a temperature insensitive plateau. The data are analyzed according to a simple diffusion-reaction model of the deposition process. Data-fitting yields values 1.2×10−5 cm2/sec, 74.5 μm, 1.085 eV, and 1.61 eV for the diffusion coefficient, solute boundary layer thickness, heat of solution, and activation energy of the reaction respectively. © 1974, North-Holland Publishing Company.
