The orientation-averaged interaction of a pair of magnetic dipolar spheres in an external magnetic field

An expression is given for the orientation-averaged potential of a pair of dipoles in an external field. Analytical expressions are obtained for small and large external fields and for small and large coupling between the spheres. Numerical results are examined also. The effects of the external field are significant only at high field strengths. © 1984.
