High Tc multilayers and edge junction SQUIDs
Abstract
Devices consisting of multilayered structures of thin films of the high Tc superconductors (YBCO) separated by non-superconducting layers have been fabricated and studied. The devices consisted of either single junctions or DC SQUIDs and the junctions were formed using the edges of the superconducting films. Initial results show improved device performance using sloping edges on which the junctions are formed and processing without breaking vacuum between edge cleaning and junction and counter electrode formation.
