Eliminating the tape growth virus through effective data management
Abstract
Based on a three-year-period survey by IBM, an increasing number of companies are realizing that the effective management data is vital to their business strategies. Most of the companies surveyed opted for tape as an inexpensive data storage solution. However, ineffective application of tape significantly increase total storage expenses and may even lessen the throughput of the processor. However, effective data classification is needed for the proper use of hierarchical storage management tools.
