Erik Miehling is a research scientist at IBM Research in the human-centered AI group. Prior to joining IBM Research he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Coordinated Science Lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign where he worked with Tamer Başar and Cedric Langbort on problems in reinforcement learning, control, and games. He obtained his PhD in electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Michigan under Demos Teneketzis.
His primary research interests lie in multi-agent coordination and alignment, fairness of learning algorithms in sequential decision environments, and human feedback elicitation for RL tasks.
