WORK OF A ROBOTIC APPLICATIONS LABORATORY.

Abstract

The basic purpose of an applications laboratory is to examine assembly robotic applications prior to committing them to production lines. The paper describes how the laboratory was established, how it is staffed and funded. It discusses some of the applications that have been completed. The paper also describes how the knowledge learned by describing the Design for Robotic Assembly Course which is run each month for both the Manufacturing and Development staffs is passed on. Finally, a summary of the main objectives and some of the lessons learned is given.
