The low-rate growth of particulate Fe on planar alumina supports
Abstract
The preparation and analysis of UHV-deposited Fe particles of varying size on TEM-transparent supports of amorphous and single crystal alumina is described. The effects of substrate crystallinity and stoichiometry and of Fe source design on the cleanliness and dispersion of the Fe particles were studied. The surface analytical techniques employed included AES, ELS, and LEED. The size and number density of the Fe particles were directly determined by post-deposition TEM. © 1986.
