Some Properties of Transmission Systems with Minimum Mean-Square Error
Abstract
Three properties of a linear transmission system optimized with respect to the mean-square error of the signal received are discussed. These are the attenuation of the main peak of a transmitted pulse, the ratio of the components of the mean-square error (signal distortion and noise), and the increase of the error caused by imperfect implementation of the phases of the optimal transfer functions.
