Simple analysis of torque measurement of magnetic thin films
Abstract
In order to analyze experimental data of torque measurements for magnetic thin films, a (L/H)2-vs-L plot is proposed, where L represents the torque of a film in a field of H whose direction is 45°to the film plane. The saturation magnetization M and perpendicular anisotropy energy K ⊥ are obtained without any approximation from the slope A and intercept B of this plot as follows: M= (2B)1/2/V, K ⊥= (B/V) (1/A-4π/V), where V is the volume of the film.
