Magnetic field dependence of Fowler-Nordheim tunneling in Cd 1-xMnxTe
Abstract
The Zeeman splitting of the conduction band in the magnetic semiconductor Cd1-xMnxTe with x<0.25 has been inferred from measurements of Fowler-Nordheim tunneling characteristics in a metal-semiconductor-metal structure. The large g value of the band electrons leads to a decrease of the barrier height in a magnetic field and, consequently, to an exponential increase in the tunneling current.
