IPTV STB software update scheme based on SNMP
Abstract
Software auto update for IP Set-Top-Box is an important feature for IPTV system deployment. A SNMP based management model has been developed to meet the requirement of efficient and reliable software auto update on a prototype of Internet Protocol Set-Top-Box (IPSTB). The model implements a distributed Server-Client network updating scheme, which includes an embedded SNMP agent running on IPSTBs, an enterprise specific MIB module, and a GUI SNMP management server. A dynamic duplicate backup system is also designed to enhance the reliability of software update, through which IPSTB is able to protect itself from failure updating.
