Infrared surface EM-wave prism spectroscopy of langmuir-blodgett Mn-stearate layers on Ag
Abstract
Using the resonant excitation of surface EM waves in a single prism-air gap-metal configuration and a standard infrared monochromator, a globar source and a thermocouple detector, we have obtained well defined infrared vibration spectra of 2-layer and 10-layer Langmuir-Blodgett Mn-stearate films on silver in the 1200-3000 cm-1 frequency region. The magnitude of the carboxylate ion absorption peaks in these spectra indicates that detection of even a submonolayer of this radical is readily possible. © 1978.
