Building disappearing computers
Abstract
The challenges faced in designing large displays for ubiquitous computing environments are discussed. Ubiquitous computing system that form the background of the way we expect things to work is discussed. Three different approaches addressing the common issue of how to design and build disappearing computers are presented. These approaches have been developed over some time by using different implementations to find manswers and solutions to the opem problems and issues. The development of ambient information displays that shows information about the activities of the working groups into which the Smart Environments at Fraunhofer ISPI are based are also described.
