A multifractal traffic generation method using wavelet and volterra filtering
Abstract
This paper proposes a generation method of network traffic pattern needed in a stress test of Web site. This method mainly consists of two stages: at the first stage, from a positive root signal modeled by an α-stable distribution, a network traffic pattern with multifractality and long-tail distribution is synthesized using wavelet And at the second stage, a short-term distribution characteristics of the pattern generated at the first stage is adjusted by using decomposition to low-frequency and high-frequency components by a quadratic Volterra filtering and changing ratios of their two-components. Simulation results are also shown for validation of this proposed method.
