Bio

Alexander Andreopoulos is a Senior Research Scientist in the Brain-Inspired Computing group at IBM Research - Almaden, the team that brought you the NorthPole Neural Inference processor and the TrueNorth neurosynaptic processor. His research interests lie in the areas of computer vision, vision-based robotics, computational neuroscience, machine learning, and medical imaging. He has an Honours B.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto in computer science and mathematics, as well as M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from York University, Toronto, Canada. He has received a number of awards,  including the DEC award for the most outstanding student in Computer Science to graduate from the University of Toronto, and the Misha Mahowald Prize for Neuromorphic Engineering, jointly awarded to the IBM TrueNorth project team members.
