Burkhard Ringlein is a Predoctoral Researcher in the Cloud & AI Systems Research department of the IBM Research Zurich Laboratory and pursues his PhD in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science, Computer Architecture of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany.
As part of the cloudFPGA project, he is focusing on Distributed Reconfigurable Architectures in the context of High-Performance-Computing and AI Acceleration. Besides this, he is interested in designing compiler stacks for supporting heterogeneous computing platforms.
He joined IBM Research Zurich in 2018 as a Master student and earned his Master of Science degree in November 2018 at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg. Previously, he was an Intern at IBM Security in Kassel, Germany and Atlanta, Georgia. During his Master studies, he also worked for the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Erlangen, developing a reconfigurable processor for Space applications.
