FUNDAMENTAL PHYSICAL LIMITS OF COMPUTATION.
Abstract
This paper considers the constraints on the physical aspects of computing and discusses the problem of a minimum amount of energy required per logic step. The paper examines general laws which govern all information processing, regardless of pathway. Limits must be based on fundamental physical principles and not on technology used.
