Abstract

The author outlines the 4 features that he considers will change the business environment of today and tomorrow. They are: the development of international trade; the impact of computing and information technology - and of course, automated manufacture represents a major area where we can observe that impact; the emergence of new industries; and the growing importance of human resources in achieving industrial success. The author describes each of these features briefly, and shows why we must understand their importance to our future economic success and why they make the argument for automated manufacturing most acute.
