The effects of time windowing on the accuracy of the short-pulse propagation technique
Abstract
The accuracy of the short-pulse propagation (SPP) technique is evaluated for different time windowing methods. An algorithm written to replace the conventional program used for the signal processing step of the SPP technique allows control over the placement of the time window with respect to the pulse data. The values of the attenuation coefficient calculated using this algorithm are compared to VNA measurements to assess accuracy. Using the results from different time windowing techniques, a rule set for accurate time windowing of SPP data is developed. ©2009 IEEE.
