Silicon modulator based on anti-crossing between paired amplitude and phase tunable microring resonators
Abstract
A modulator design based upon anti-crossing between coupled silicon microrings with independent amplitude-phase functionality, is presented. The device has a footprint of 0.003mm2, exhibits over 10x improvement in modulation sensitivity, and 14 dB extinction. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
