Predictive Analytics and Digital Health Technologies for High-Risk Infants

Abstract

Wearable sensors have the potential to continuously collect and monitor physiologic data and help identifying early signs of changes in a patient’s health status. Infants with congenital heart disease could greatly benefit from the use of wearable sensors to monitor their health at home. However, there are many clinical and technological challenges in using wearable sensors for infants and little is known on how effective data collected with these sensors are in predicting deterioration events. In this paper, we present an ongoing study to understand the predictive power of these data in detecting low cardiac output syndrome in high-risk infants. We also explore the feasibility of using wearable sensors in infants. This project is a collaboration between digital health experts and clinicians.
