Optical-fibre tap with low insertion loss
Abstract
We report a fibre-tapping element which uses part of the insertion loss of a fibre connector or splice as useful optical signal power. A tapping fraction of up to 70% has been measured with a total insertion loss of 0·22 dB. © 1979, The Institution of Electrical Engineers. All rights reserved.
