On the application of variational methods to initial value problems in dynamics
Abstract
The variational formulation of the initial value problem is derived and used for the construction of a procedure for the determination of approximate solutions. For the case of periodic motion of simple oscillators this procedure is shown to reduce to conventional techniques. 1962 by ASME.
