Ionic displacements and spontaneous polarization in displacive ferroelectrics
Abstract
A simple relationship between the spontaneous polarization and ionic displacements of the ferroelectric phase, involving the infrared dielectric response of the paraelectric phase, is derived. The relationship is shown to be valid for BaTiO3. An estimate of the spontaneous polarization of LiNbO3 is made. © 1967.
