High resolution imaging of magnetic domain wall structures using a new spin polarized electron microscope
Abstract
We present high resolution SEMPA images of an Fe - 4% Si crystal. Also presented are a number of powerful image analysis techniques for revealing the information in magnetic micrographs. The spin polarized images are discussed within the framework of these analysis techniques. We address some of the problems inherent in the interpretation of SEMPA images. Finally, under the assumption that spin polarization images are an accurate representation of the near surface magnetism, in this system, we note that the imaged structures are quite different from those predicted by micromagnetic theory. © 1990.
