High-power operational stability of 980 nm pump lasers for EDFA applications
Abstract
The limiting factor in the reliability performance of GaAs-based lasers was considered to be the laser facet. Here the high-power reliability performance of strained single quantum well InGaAs/AlGaAs lasers with facet passivation layers is described. Catastrophic optical mirror damage (COMD) was eliminated for practical application conditions.
