A nitrogen-laser-pumped dye laser has been made to operate in the rotationally symmetric TE01 or TM01 modes. The modes are preserved as the laser wavelength is varied. The mode selector allows convenient switching from one mode to the other. The theory of the operation of the mode selector is described. © 1974, IEEE. All rights reserved.
