Characterization of large magnetic anisotropies in (100)- and (111)-oriented Co/Pt multilayers by Brillouin light scattering
Abstract
For e--beam grown (111)-oriented Co/Pt multilayers the magnitudes and spatial variations of magnetic anisotropies due to thickness variations of the Co layers are determined using Brillouin light scattering from collective spin wave excitations. From the observed collective exchange-dominated modes the interlayer exchange constant is estimated. A preliminary comparison with molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) grown (100)-oriented Co/Pt multilayers is given. © 1992.
