Artificially inhomogeneous two dimensional Josephson tunnel junction arrays
Abstract
We have used a laser to cut one fourth of the connections in a two dimensional array of 7200 junctions. The arrays were initially uniform and homogeneous, and the cutting was done at random so as to introduce a measured amount of inhomogeneity. We find that the homogeneous array is well characterized by any one of its junctions, and that the inhomogeneous array shows behavior much like that reported for granular films. © 1981.
