A low-cost clocking system was described to develop a high-speed process for servowriting hard-disk assemblies (HDA) without an external clock head. The proposed process provided a specified threshold for consecutive invalid triggers causing process termination. The analysis suggested that the proposed process achieved servo-pattern alignment at reduced capital and process cost compared to conventional clock-head based servowriters. It is expected to further improve the servo-pattern alignment by improving the detector and system write noise.
