A New Electron-Rich Network Polymer: Poly (1,3,5-triaminobenzene)
Abstract
In the presence of acid, 1,3,5-triaminobenzene (TAB) polymerizes under mild conditions to form a new network polymer. The mechanism of this unusual, simple polymerization reaction is discussed on the basis of model reactions and the unusual ring protonation of TAB in mild acids. As an example of a model reaction, TAB is reacted with aniline in acetic acid to form 1,3,5-trianilinobenzene. Poly-TAB is a new electron-rich polymer, of special interest as a potential organic ferromagnet or a conducting polymer. © 1989, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
