Sandhya Koteshwara

Sandhya Koteshwara is a Research Staff Member at IBM Research T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York. Her research interests include hardware security, cryptographic hardware and system security. She is currently working in the cloud infrastructure department towards bringing principles of hardware security and trust to the cloud. Her efforts include leading a project on platform firmware resiliency and Root of Trust for cloud server architectures. Some of her other projects include security analysis of PCIe endpoint devices, hardware security metrics based on graph analysis and secure/measured boot and attestation of devices.

Dr. Koteshwara graduated from the University of Minnesota with a doctorate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2018 and a Masters degree in 2014. Her thesis work focused on hardware obfuscation, FPGA designs for authenticated encryption and low-energy machine learning hardware. She joined as a Post doctoral researcher at IBM in October 2018 and has been a full time Research Staff Member since March 2020. During her first year at IBM, she worked on exposing and fixing vulnerabilities in novel hardware components for the IBM cloud. She also worked on optimization of lattice-based post-quantum cryptographic algorithms for IBM Power processors.
