Title
Bio
Loris Coccia received his B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2023, and his M.Sc. degree in Quantum Engineering from ETH Zürich in March 2026. In 2025, he joined IBM Research Europe – Zurich as an intern, where he worked on Projected Disc-Type Phase-Change Memories. He later carried out his Master’s thesis on Integrated Disc-Type Memories. He is currently a Pre-Doctoral Researcher in the MemVerse group under the supervision of Dr. Ghazi Sarwat Syed, within the AI Compute Frontiers group led by Dr. Abu Sebastian. He is also a PhD student at ETH Zürich in the Nano-TCAD group led by Prof. Dr. Mathieu Luisier.
His research interests include neuromorphic computing, semiconductor devices, phase-change memories, and emerging hardware for AI, with a focus on fast and slow synaptic devices, mixed-plasticity mechanisms, and hardware for neural network inference.
