Bio

Jean Wynne is currently Senior manager of Operations and Fab manager for IBM Research at Albany Nanotech, responsible for directing, planning, and managing the work in the 300mm NYCREATES Albany facilities, a complex multi-party R&D operational environment, requiring close collaboration with research partners. In this role, Dr. Wynne leads teams to develop and implement longer term solutions to Fab operations challenges, by recommending changes to protocols, procedures, and infrastructure. She also collaborates with tool owners, facilities and equipment engineering teams to identify areas to improve tool performance, and actively support improvement/upgrade plans.

Previously, Dr. Wynne was Senior Manager of Unit Process Research at IBM Albany Nanotech where she led teams developing cutting edge processes across all unit process sectors. Applications included nanosheet technology, novel back end of line processes, and artificial intelligence hardware development. Dr. Wynne in the past led a team of engineers who maintained advanced processes with low defectivity and adequate process window for research and development teams, reduced systematic yield and cycle time limiters, and provided healthy processes for base line routes. Before joining the IBM Albany, NY team, she began her career at IBM Burlington, VT as a technology reliability engineer with focus on back end of line, laser fuse, efuse, and chip package interaction failure mechanisms. With over 25 years of experience in Semiconductors, Dr. Wynne has demonstrated strong skills in operations as well as unit process engineering with focus on thin film development and characterization. She earned a PhD in Physics from the University at Albany.

Dr. Wynne’s passion is mentoring people from all walks of life who are passionate about what they do and want to have more impact on the teams they work with or projects they contribute to. She has facilitated several workshops on the topics of career development, gender bias, gender communications and impactful career conversations. As an avid supporter of IBM PowerUp and SEMI WIS, Dr. Wynne is always excited to promote initiatives intended to improve diversity in the semiconductor industry.
