Storage management using CIM and JMX

Abstract

A transparent common information model (CIM)-to-Java management extensions (JMX) gateway for combining complementary advantages of two partly competing management technologies was presented. This work supported a research prototype for policy-based storage management. The aim was to enable intelligent placement decisions for file and digital media resources by taking current availability and performance of contributing resources into account.
