Single crystal silicon for high resolution displays
Abstract
A new direction for display work is emerging. Along with the extraordinary success of amorphous silicon TFT/LC displays and the recent gains of poly-Si technology in projection displays, another silicon technology - single crystal silicon - is being applied to various display applications. This paper discusses the motivation for this work, the status of current activities including a high resolution monitor and the prospects for future silicon-based displays.
