Similarity between the Si(111)-(7×7) and impurity-stabilized Si(111)-(1×1) surfaces
Abstract
Photoemission studies of intrinsic surface states are reported which show a strong similarity between the Si(111)-(7×7) and impurity-stabilized Si(111)-(1×1) surfaces. These results suggest that impurity-stabilized Si(111)-(1×1) surfaces are significantly reconstructed with a short range atomic configuration similar to that of the Si(111)-(7×7) surface, and are not unreconstructed with an essentially bulklike, contracted (1×1) surface as suggested via recent dynamical LEED calculations. © 1980.
