Resonant transmission in an H-shaped nanostructure
Abstract
Coherent quantum-ballistic transmission through an H-shaped nanostructure, with one mode in each lead, is investigated by an analytical description, for two cases. The transmission and reflection resonances, quasi-classical transit times, and dwell times are obtained. The calculated dwell times entail that when the electron states are all occupied through the resonance energy range then the total charge within the structure, for each of the two spin states, is that of one electron - corresponding to the quasi-level state associated with the resonance. These results partially verify and partially contravene the applicability of a previously proposed model S-matrix for nanostructure resonances. © 1995.
