Residual cathodic and anodic photocurrents are observed at platinum and gold electrodes in contact with optically transparent nonaqueous electrolytes. The photocurrents arise from photoexcitation of the metal. Their wavelength, potential, and time dependence are described. © 1979 American Chemical Society.
