Quantum rotors, phase-slip centers, and the Coulomb blockade
Abstract
We present a simple formulation of the quantum rotor, which is analogous to both an inductor and a capacitor. There exists a quantum blockade in all these systems, a specific case of which is the Coulomb blockade for a small capacitor. The analysis underlines the importance of a rotationally symmetric coordinate. © 1990.
