Poly(perfluoroalkylene aryl ethers)
Abstract
Fluoroalkyl groups were shown to effectively activate nucleophilic aromatic substitution. This reaction was used to prepare poly(perfluoralkylene aryl ethers), a new class of poly(aryl ethers) which do not contain polar functionality, e.g. ketones, and should show a lower dielectric constant. The polymers displayed a low Tg, high thermal stability, and mechanical properties comparable to other glassy poly(aryl ethers).
