Polymer mass spectrometry by laser desorption and separate multi photon ionization of end-group chromophores
Abstract
A combination of laser desorption, separate multiphoton ionization, and mass spectrometry was used to characterize films of perfluorinated polyethers. Photoionization was achieved through end group chromophores, which were either present in the polymer or chemically attached. The technique provided parent molecular weight distributions without fragmentation.
