Polymer blends on electrodes
Abstract
Electroactive polymer blends were prepared by two different procedures. In one, aniline is polymerized on a platinum electrode coated with polymethyl methacrylate. In the other procedure, aniline was polymerized from a solution containing an anionic polymer, poly(vinylsulfonic acid). This procedure was also used to prepare poly(3-methylthiophene) from a solution containing a nonionic polymer, polycarbonate. In both cases, the host polymer becomes incorporated in the film during the polymerization. The blends are electroactive and have mechanical and thermal properties resembling those of the inert polymer.
