PFACTS: Faster solutions for forever chemicals

Abstract

Addressing the PFAS challenge will require an unprecedented convergence of tools, technologies, and expertise. This is a challenging problem, as there are over seven million PFAS materials, PFAS materials have over 300 different uses, and traditional hazard screening takes months. PFACTS is addressing this as an industrial, non-profit, and academic collaboration developing a web-based platform supported by artificial intelligence-based tools to help users develop Faster Solutions for Forever Chemicals. Our simple pfasID app will help manufacturers and suppliers quickly identify PFAS in the supply chain. PFACTS’ comprehensive knowledge base and AI prediction and transformation models will enhance users' ability to holistically assess the chemical hazards associated with PFAS and potential alternatives. Finally, for those instances where PFAS are not able to be replaced, PFACTS’ will assist in the identification of alternatives and recommend options for PFAS capture in order to shut off the flow of PFAS into the environment. PFACTS empowers users to identify their PFAS challenges and develop solutions.
