Perpendicular write process and head design
Abstract
Analytical approximations and finite element models were employed to test the perpendicular geometry of magnetic heads which permits higher anisotropy media for a given head saturation induction. The physical possibility to engage the media with almost twice the coercive field, normally used with longitudinal recording, was analyzed. Some experiments were also reported to verify the ability to write high coercive field media.
