Passive binarization methods for image display and computer-generated holograms
Abstract
Some display technologies (LCD) as well as output 'devices for computer-generated holograms require a binarization of input data. A novel and simple binarization technique is presented and results for image and hologram encoding are discussed. The method introduced is a modification of conventional dither/carrier techniques which allow real-time implementation. However, it avoids the tradeoff between graytone rendition and spatial resolution common to those. Recently the method was applied in display of color images. © 1989, SPIE.
