MICROSCOPIC THEORY OF MAGNETIC BRUSH DEVELOPMENT WITH SPONGE CARRIER.
Abstract
Development experiments are presented for sponge carrier in a magnetic brush development system. These experiments are compared with the equilibrium theory of development and a new field stripping theory. It is shown that the equilibrium model does not describe these experiments. The new theory, which is consistent with the data, assumes infinite conductivity down bead chains and field stripping of toner from the carrier beads adjacent to the photoconductor, with the fraction of available toner field stripped dependent on the applied voltage.
