Measurement of the Nd3+ ion pair interaction and Zeeman effect in CsCdBr3:Nd3+ using spectral holeburning
Abstract
Spectral holeburning and fluorescence excitation spectroscopy has been used to measure the interaction between pairs of Nd3+ ions in CsCdBr3. The magnetic splitting factors of single Nd3+ ions were obtained from spectral holeburning of Nd3+ ions associated with non-magnetic Pr3+ ions in Nd-Pr pairs, supplemented by a crystal field calculation. From this the magnetic dipole coupling of the pair was calculated to be within a factor of two of that observed experimentally. © 1992.
