Measurement of the high-frequency electro-optical Kerr effect in a plastic crystal: Succinonitrile
Abstract
The nonlinear Kerr susceptibility of an oriented succinonitrile single crystal has been measured throughout the cubic plastic phase. The measurement procedure is described in detail, and the results discussed in terms of an orientational correlation function. Connection with other measurements is also made. © 1976 The American Physical Society.
